I Was Thinking What You Are Saying

Sometimes I love the guy and other times it's like he is talking jambalaya. This is one of those times I love him.

Maher is pretty spot on with his assesment of Obama: "Get out of the spotlight and do something! You're like Lindsay Lohan."

Obama has good intentions, but good intentions can be wasted without a good fight. To be fair, he has completed a lot of little task, but where are the big things? Why does it seem like he is just dancing around serious change? He is reminding me of that girl is high school that flirted like crazy, but never put out. This needs to change.

Take a gander:

North Korea Ain't Scared of Nobody

If you pay attention to the news you might be aware of the two U.S. journalist, Euna Lee and Laura Ling (Lisa's sister), who were arrested/captured by Kim Jong Il's cronies. They were charged back in March for illegal entry, but their trial didn't start till last week. Well their scentence has come in and it is not good: 12 years hard labour. Shite!

Both were working for Current TV (Al Gore's little baby) and were doing a story on the China - North Korea border. It is unclear whether they actually crossed the border into N. Korea or if Il's people reached over and grabed them, but whatever happened has resulted into unfavourable circumstances; 12 years of unfavorable circumstances.

Just before the trial started people had a sense of optimism, believing that the two would recieve a little slap on the wrist because New Nuke City didn't want to have to deal with the public and political drama of this while also testing their nuclear program. However, things have gotten dicey with the U.S. and N. Korea with the U.S. threatening sanctions and N. Korea threatening to blow everything up. Hilary Clinton has even gotten all Santa Claus-y by threatening to add N. Korea back to the "Axis of Evil" list.

America prepare yourself for a real life Wag the Dog. Sergeant William Schumann meet Euna Lee and Laura Ling.

Memorial Weekend

In honor of Memorial weekend we bring you a story of a retired soldier who not only saved a man's life yesterday, but also gave hundreds of people the gift of "time."

Lai Jiansheng is 66 years old and served in the Chinese military. Yesterday during his commute he came upon a traffic jam caused by a man threatening to jump of the Haizhu Bridge in Guangzhou. The would be suicide offender had recently lost nearly 2 million yen ($300,000) in a bad construction deal. After learning of the situation, Mr. Jiansheng offered his negotiating skills to the police, but they declined.

However, after waiting five hours for the situation to be resolved and the bridge to reopen, Mr. Jiansheng decide to take matters into his own hands. He broke past the police barricade, climbed out to the jumper, shook the dude's hand and then pushed him off the bridge.

No worries, the pushed survived because he landed on the air cushion that was set up below. Mr. Jiansheng's reasoning behind the push:

"I pushed him off because jumpers like Chen are very selfish," the newspaper quoted Mr Lai as saying.

"Their action violates a lot of public interests. They do not really dare to kill themselves. Instead, they just want to raise the relevant government authorities' attention to their appeals."

I'm not sure if the jumper was making any appeals to the government, but I do agree with the fact that suicide is a selfish act when attempted by adults who are able to reason properly. Mr. Jiansheng did not attempt to kill the man, he only wanted to resolve a nuisance and save some people some time, and that is exactly what he accomplished. This Memorial weekend let us all try to be like Mr. Jiansheng by pushing the annoying things in life out of our way so we can free up time to focus on the important things in life.

Hulu + Disney, This is kind of a big deal.

Mickey Mouse just inked a sweet little equity-owning deal with everybody's favorite late night friend, Hulu.com. This is great news for tv/online viewers because it gives us a one stop place to watch many of our favorite shows. With the inclusion of Disney, Hulu fans will have access to ABC, ESPN, Disney, plus others. Yes!, more Bachelor and Scrubs.

I thought the DVR was the greatest television invention ever, but hulu might give it a run for it's money. If I forget to record something, no worries, I can find it online. As Hulu grows I will only need to go to one place. This is the progress MLK was talking about. Now if we could only get the damn music companies to get with the times.

Shepard Smith Goes Crazy and gets it right

Shepard Smith, Roger Goodell's wife Jane Skinner, and the blond gal with the really big boobs are the only Fox News Channel people my mind can take. Today the Shep went off on this whole torture issue and if I was surrounded by a bunch of nincompoops who rather divide the country than use a lil commonsense, I would try to knock somebody out as well.

The fact is that the U.S. has never clearly defined what torture is and what it is not, but they did say that waterboarding, as well as some of the other acts recently committed on detainees, is torture. Now keep in mind that we as a country have declared that we don't torture and have made a national and international promise that we will not torture. Shoot, McCain the Maverick himself helped make it a law.

However, according to the memos that have been released by the current administration, the previous administration authorized torturous acts to be acted out on detainees held in military prisons such as Gitmo. Remember now that the majority of the detainees in these prisons have not actually been charged with a crime, so in other words we were torturing possible informants. Not only that, but the "informants" have been locked up for years. Try giving up info on a person or place you haven't seen since 2002. Not easy huh? Now try doing while getting your head smashed into a wall or playfully drowning. Just a lil bit harder. On The Wire, detectives gave infromants cash, the Bush admin gave possible informants lungs full of water.

Torture is illegal. The previous administration made it clear that they knew the legalities of it. Whether torture is effective or not can be debated till the cows come home, but the person who side stepped the law and authorized the use of torture needs to face the consequences. I truly believed that the Bush years would be viewed in a better light after some time, but it now looks like that will never happen. You did your daddy proud.

This is Bad

21 horses died today, shortly before their polo match in Wellington, FL..

Polo horses are not easy to train due to the constant directional changes as well as the fact horses rather not run into each other. A good polo horse will run you about $250,000 so losing a $250,000 horse that acted like a dog is a terrible loss.

As of now it is unclear what killed the 21 horses belonging to the Venezuelan-owned team Lechuza Polo. The Lechuza are considered the New York Yankees of Polo and were the favorites to win the U.S. Open polo match. I have always wondered what would happen to baseball is the Yankees lost half of their players in a tragic accident. Now I have an idea.

RIP Horses

Update: the pharmacy did it.

Fowl Play: KFC Shows You They Grill

This week KFC rolled out a full scale massive campaign to provide healthy alternatives to their extra crispy and original artery cloggers. The verdict? Delicious.

The initiative is at least in part a response to mounting health concerns over American obesity which manifested itself in the institution of laws requiring fast food restaurants to disclose nutritional values on their menus late last year. According to a press release, the new bangers are about 70 to 180 calories and 4 to 9 grams of fat a piece, or about a third of the respective caloric and fat contents of a serving of original fried.

According to "The Chicago Tribune" all but 100 of KFC's 5000 plus locations are going to holler. Word to Roy Rogers though. Their chicken was the best with that grease all on the outside that you had to wipe off before you could even contemplate eating it and then those poorly made but inexplicably delicious-in-the-context-of-things french fries.

How many times can you kill a person?

I've said it before and I say it again: If you eff with the innocence of a child, you deserve to die. If you knowingly and purposely take the life of another human being, you deserve to die.

The question now is: Can Melissa Huckaby die twice?

Huckaby (pictured above) was arraigned yesterday for the murder, rape and kidnapping of her daughters best friend, eight year-old Sandra Cantu. After disposing of the girls body in her personal suitcase and throwing it in a pond, Huckaby left the Cantu's searching, pleading and praying for their daughters safe return for 10 days. Not enough? Huckaby was also a Sunday school teacher. Talk about being the last person cops suspected.

Melissa Huckaby, EFF YOU!!

Pick a side aready!

Mike Bloomberg, the guy above (and the guy i wanted to be prez), is running for a 3rd term as mayor of NYC. Fair enough.

After spending a ton of his own money to become mayor he decided to spend a few extra buck to extend the term limit to three. Whatever works.

What I can't figure out however, is why the hell do the political parties allow Bloomy to use them like the guys on my floor used Jenny "have at 'em" Jeffries freshman year of college? The dude was Republican, then went Democrat, then Republican again, then he threw us a curve ball and went Independent, and is now returning to the red corner.

The dude doesn't vote along party lines, he doesn't need the money, and his constituaents don't care what colour shirt he's wearing because the dude is a "no pants" liberal. If it's a ballot issue, i say change the damn ballots. You were able to change the term limits weren't you?

Everybody Needs A Sister

according to researchers, happy people have sisters. I have two and I'm a happy person, so that proves it.

I'm not exactly sure why a sister would make a person happier as opposed to a brother though. I've always wished i had a brother to play more sports with and to wrestle with. I guess god rather me be happy than a pro athlete. I think i coulda done both.

It only took him two competitions to shake off the rust, but baby he's now playing like a well oiled machine.

Entering the final day of his third tourney back from surgery and a baby girl, Tiger found himself five strokes back from the leader. 18 holes later, Tiger was the winner. Rahwww!

Good Riddance F*cker

Bernie Madoff is going to plead guilty to ELEVEN counts of criminal charges on Thursday, his lawyer said today in federal court. The criminal charges include securities fraud, investment advisory fraud, mail fraud, wire fraud, 3 counts of money laundering, false statements, perjury, false filings to the SEC, and theft from an employee benefit plan.

There is no plea agreement, meaning that Madoff has to plead guilty to ALL charges.

Here's to looking at the rest of your pathetic life in jail. And that's not even counting the eternity you will spend burning in the depths of hell.

Phish fans like drugs

The bad economy was starting to get to the members of Phish so they decided to give their first concert in five years. It was a three day concert held in the beach town of Hampton, VA this past weekend. The problem was that the economy was also getting to the Hampton police department. When they found out that Phish was coming to town dollar signs flashed.

Over the three day the cops confiscated $1.2 million in drugs and more than $68,000 from concert goers (that's enough money to pay for two rookie cops and enough ganja to keep the whole force unstressed for the year). They also arrested over 190 people who will have to pay some sorta fine and/or post bail.

All in all, this was a good weekend for Phish and the Hampton Police; Phish fans, not so much.

so this is how it ends

Rocky Mountain News printed their last paper today, 55 days before their 150th birthday. They were a good newspaper that got bit by the times. More will follow.

Here is Rocky's goodbye letter to their readers:
It is with great sadness that we say goodbye to you today. Our time chronicling the life of Denver and Colorado, the nation and the world, is over. Thousands of men and women have worked at this newspaper since William Byers produced its first edition on the banks of Cherry Creek on April 23, 1859. We speak, we believe, for all of them, when we say that it has been an honor to serve you. To have reached this day, the final edition of the Rocky Mountain News, just 55 days shy of its 150th birthday is painful. We will scatter. And all that will be left are the stories we have told, captured on microfilm or in digital archives, devices unimaginable in those first days. But what was present in the paper then and has remained to this day is a belief in this community and the people who make it what it has become and what it will be. We part in sorrow because we know so much lies ahead that will be worth telling, and we will not be there to do so. We have celebrated life in Colorado, praising its ways, but we have warned, too, against steps we thought were mistaken. We have always been a part of this special place, striving to reflect it accurately and with compassion. We hope Coloradans will remember this newspaper fondly from generation to generation, a reminder of Denver’s history – the ambitions, foibles and virtues of its settlers and those who followed. We are confident that you will build on their dreams and find new ways to tell your story. Farewell – and thank you for so many memorable years together.

D-A-M-N

Homeboy Breezy really did a number on Rihanna. And this picture was supposedly taken right after the incident, before the full extent of the bruises and swelling could appear.

Wow...this f*ckin guy...

Apparently, Bernie Madoff did NOT buy or sell any securities in the last thirteen YEARS. How is this even possible? How could employees not catch onto this? How could the SEC not catch onto this? How could his auditors not catch onto this? This is unbelievable to me.

Well since everyone else is posting...

Fires continue to rage in Australia and arsonist are not making it any easier.

Temperatures have been blazing (pun really wasn't intended), hitting 119F in some areas. Add that to the 100 foot walls of fire that have killed over 130 people and destroyed nearly 1000 homes, it all adds up to Hell On Earth. What is making problems worse is that after the firefighters put out a fire and move on to another, suspected arsonist are relighting areas because they are arsonist and that's the stupid shite they do.

Speaking of hell on earth, Alex Rodriguez must feel like he's permanently stuck there. Not only is "frosty tips" disliked by his peers and baseball fans in general, but it appears that he is also hated by his own government (the same govt he gives $12million to every year in taxes). Someone from the Feds leaked the "confidential" results of a 2003 drug test he took. Uh Oh! All MLB players took the drug test in '03, 104 were found to have steroids in their system, Arod being one of them. Only Arods name was leaked.

Bad weekend all around.

At least Chris Brown is hitting the ground running as he plans to enter the studio on Monday to record a remake of Prodigy's "Smack My B*tch Up." Chris, I do believe it's too soon.
